Rumors of internal Kahn detachment intensify

Because FC Bayern is threatened with the first completely untitled season since 2012, everything at Munich is under scrutiny. CEO Oliver Kahn is also counted. Now there are several reports that the 53-year-old could be replaced internally – by someone who actually wanted to stop with the German record champions.

It’s rumbling at FC Bayern. In all probability, Borussia Dortmund will be crowned German champions on Saturday afternoon, a blow to the ambitions of FC Bayern, which less than two months ago still had their sights set on the treble. It is therefore hardly surprising that Oliver Kahn, who has been in charge of FCB as CEO since the summer of 2021 and has only been able to prove the Bundesliga triumph in 2022, has also come under criticism.

Apparently, the dissatisfaction with Kahn in the club is so great that there are concrete considerations to replace the “Titan”.

As the “Münchner Abendzeitung” has learned from several sources and reports with reference to the “tz”, FC Bayern is considering giving Jan-Christian Dreesen the role of CEO. “Bild” and “ran.de” also found out about the plans. The latter source brings Dreesen into play as a possible interim solution for the coming period – possibly even up to 2025. Then a permanent solution could be found in peace.

Internally, the idea is said to have already been discussed with Dreesen and has important advocates or supporters, as the “AZ further reports. “Bild” adds that Dreesen is considered a big critic of Kahn and at the same time is closely linked to the ex-boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (former board member) and Uli Hoeneß (former president and manager). According to “ran.de”, the situation is currently “very dynamic”.

But there are two problems: Jan-Christian Dreesen is currently still CFO at Munich, but actually wanted to give up this task after the season – according to “Bild” probably also because of Kahn – and devote himself to other things. The business graduate probably did not have the role of CEO in mind. It is not yet known what Dreesen’s opinion on the plan floating around in the club is. Dreesen’s successor, Dr. Independently of this, Michael Diederich, well known from the supervisory board, is currently being trained as the new head of finance. According to “Bild”, he should also see Kahn’s work critically.

Point two: FC Bayern could also face competition from the German football league at Dreesen. Because there the native East Frisian is also being discussed as the new boss. It is said that there have already been initial explorations with the DFL, according to “Sport1” money has even been talked about.

Dreesen would get prominent help at Bayern

However, the “Münchner Abendzeitung” suspects that if the worst comes to the worst, Dreesen would probably opt for FC Bayern if things really get concrete there. The duo Hoeneß and Rummenigge would probably help him. According to the daily newspaper, the honorary president and the former CEO should play a bigger role in the club again. According to “Bild”, “only” Rummenigge should be brought back on board, he would be an adviser to Dreesen if the worst came to the worst.

A decision on Kahn’s future is expected in the coming week. In a sport.de-Survey with thousands of participants, 62 percent vote for a separation from Kahn. Only 38 percent are in favor of another chance for the 53-year-old.

FC Bayern: Will Sauer replace Salihamidzic?

The supervisory board meeting of the Munich company is scheduled for May 30th. It will be about setting the course for the next few years.

Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic cannot be sure of his job until then either, he is not completely firmly in the saddle. As “ran.de” learned, a separation from the 46-year-old is also conceivable.

The portal brings Jochen Sauer into play as an internal successor candidate. The campus boss of FC Bayern is also about to say goodbye, but a new role may make him rethink, it is said.
