Rummenigge and Mintzlaff are leaving the DFB task force

Combined with clear criticism of the German Football Association, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Oliver Mintzlaff have resigned from the DFB task force with immediate effect.

The supervisory board member of FC Bayern Munich and the chairman of the supervisory board of RB Leipzig announced this in writing on Sunday (September 17, 2023) via a spokeswoman.

“Find out about Rettig from the media”

The expert council was never equipped with the appropriate decision-making powers to be able to work effectively, effectively and purposefully, explained Rummenigge: “In addition, the task force was not involved in important decisions made by the DFB, and in some cases it was not even informed. We learned from the media about the installation of Andreas Rettig as the DFB’s sports director, a very sensitive personality and decision worthy of discussion.”

The DFB surprisingly announced on Friday that long-time Bundesliga manager Rettig (60) would take over the position of sports director. The DFB task force was founded in December after the national soccer team was eliminated again in the preliminary round at the World Cup in Qatar.
