Eva Jinek has probably been told that she has to reduce her salary from 1.2 million to 600 thousand euros, thinks Yvonne Coldeweijer. She also once negotiated with RTL.

It seems more and more that Eva Jinek and her employer RTL 4 are in an impasse regarding her princely salary. She currently earns 1.2 million euros a year, but even her channel colleague Bridget Maasland now indicates that this is no longer feasible due to the collapsed viewing figures.

600 thousand euros

Eva states that RTL wants to continue with her, but that she is not so sure about that yet, and according to critics, this indicates that she has received a salary proposal that she is very dissatisfied with. “They just offered her half or something. She is just offended,” says Yvonne Coldeweijer in her podcast The Juice Show.

Yvonne, who also negotiated with RTL during her time at RTL Telekids, thinks they want to cut costs on Eva. “He first got 1.2 and they just said: ‘Yes Eva, we’re going to 6 or something.’ Yeah you know, something like that. Then she just thought: yes, ammehoela. So she now thinks: maybe I will go somewhere else.”

“You need her!”

According to juicehyena Yvonne, Eva’s reaction is easy to understand. “Without Eva, they are nothing at all with those talk shows. Of course there’s all the criticism and the ratings are down and it’s too long and it’s not spicy enough and all that. Then I think: well, what are you going to do without Eva Jinek? You need herso just give what she asks.”

She continues: “I wouldn’t go down. I’d say, ‘Just the same, I’m not going backwards.’ She shouldn’t go backwards, just not. I think Sven Sauvé is bluffing and she can just ask for 1.2. If I were Eva, I’d say, ‘Okay, fine Sven, thanks. I’m going. 1.2 is the price. Greetings.’ Then he will just pay. Eva, stand your ground.”

Struggle

RTL 4 will undoubtedly struggle with the challenge of offering appropriate compensation that takes into account Eva’s status as talk show queen as well as the economic reality of her declining ratings. A compromise must do justice to its professional merits, but also be in line with the reality of the market.

It is clear that the salary negotiations between Eva and RTL 4 can have a major impact on the dynamics within the television world. Because if Eva takes off, she could just end up in the eve of NPO 1. And that could have huge consequences for the RTL 4 hit RTL Boulevard.

Inboard

Last week, ratings professor Tina Nijkamp expressed the expectation in RTL Boulevard that Eva will simply stay with RTL. “She is a very important face for RTL 4 and she is also the only female host of the late-night talk show, so I think that is reason enough to keep her on board.”

However, she does not rule out anything: “The NPO could still use a hit and seven o’clock is of course a slightly nicer time to work than late night, especially if you have two small children.”
