Art Rooijakkers is slowly sinking with his TV show DNA Singers on RTL 4. Where the program started with almost a million viewers, hundreds of thousands of people have already dropped out.
DNA Singers, in which family members of Dutch celebrities perform and you then have to guess who they are related to, has lost quite a few viewers after the good start. Last night, only 786 thousand people (14 percent market share) were ready for the musical television show on RTL 4. A downer for Art Rooijakkers.
Loose lipped Lenny
Viewing figure expert Tina Nijkamp thinks that it is partly the fault of RTL 4. “The program receives a lot of comments because it contains the most important element – whose family is the singer(s)? – seems to reveal in previews and especially because the episode can be seen on Videoland before broadcast. Not very smart, because spoiler.”
Lenny Kuhr already tweeted at the beginning of the week: “When I participated in DNA Singers I promised not to say anything about this in advance (surprise!). Now I see that it can be seen on Videoland a week earlier, so: Thursday 16 February on RTL 4 you can see and hear me in DNA Singers together with my granddaughter Lihi.
Sincere apologies
So that was not the intention. Lenny a day later: “After publications in the Belgian media and the preview on Videoland, I thought DNA Singers’ duty of confidentiality had expired. My sincerest apologies to the viewers. I hope you all will still enjoy my beautiful granddaughter Lihi!”
Tina understands Lenny’s confusion. She says: “Maybe it’s a good idea for RTL not to do this with the next episodes?!”
I’m leaving wins
The winner on prime time was NPO 1’s Ik Vertrek with 1.1 million viewers this time (21 percent). Prior to that, Floortje Goes Mee attracted 1 million viewers (19 percent).
SBS 6 takes silver and is therefore above RTL 4. That channel knew with Mr. Frank Visser Doet Uitspraak captivated 888 thousand viewers (16 percent). Today Inside did slightly less because of football: 624 thousand viewers (12 percent).
