Rot-Weiss Essen wins an important victory at BVB II

Rot-Weiss Essen won the first game after the expulsion of their captain Felix Bastians. In the duel at Borussia Dortmund II, RWE won 2:1 (1:0) and ended their drought in the 3rd league with their fourth win of the season – Essen had clearly lost the last two games (0:5 against Verl, 0:4 in Unterhaching ).

On Friday, Mustafa Kourouma (30th) and Torben Müsel (58th) secured the victory at Signal Iduna Park, the stadium of the Dortmund Bundesliga team. Falko Michel (57th, penalty) had equalized for BVB, Müsel’s goal came immediately afterwards in front of 17,093 spectators.

On Tuesday, Essen announced its separation from Bastians and described this step as “no alternative”. It was a joint decision “of the entire board, the sports management and the coaching team”.
