Kim Gordon was once best known as a founding member of Sonic Youth. With the separation from her bandmate and husband Thurston Moore, however, came the end of the band. The singer has been traveling solo since 2019 and is also stopping in Germany as part of her upcoming tour.
Gordon’s latest project “At Issue” sounds experimental and is characterized by dark sound collages. The musician never wanted to sound like the others anyway, as she once said: “It was never about making conventional music for me. When I moved to New York I liked no wave bands like DNA, Mars, The Static – they were totally free – different from the usual three chord punk rock.
The first solo album was also released in 2019. Offering the blend of noise rock and new wave that Sonic Youth fans have come to expect, No Home Record was produced at Sphere Ranch Studio in Los Angeles in collaboration with producer Justin Raisen (Angel Olsen, Charli XCX).
On the occasion of her upcoming tour, Kim Gordon is now playing two concerts in Germany, presented by ROLLING STONE.
