The meteorologist warns that you have to be “calm, but attentive” to this possibility

Five communities, on yellow alert this Wednesday due to rain, storms and waves

The storm that hit northeast Spain and the Balearic Islands this weekend has started to recede, as has the wave of cold air which caused an abrupt drop in temperatures. In most places in Spain, the thermometers registered a drop of up to 20 degrees between the maximum temperatures of Friday and those of Sunday.

In fact, we have already witnessed snow at altitudes above 2,300 meters in the Pyrenees. This Monday, Baqueira and Cerler woke up with temperatures of 0°C and 1°C respectively.

The meteorologist Roberto Brasero warns of the possibility of a DANA for this weekend, although he stresses that it is only a possibility and that for the moment you have to be “quiet but attentive”.

Is a DANA arriving this weekend?

Over the course of the week, a slight increase in temperatures, before a possible new collapse and more intense and widespread precipitation next weekend. Starting September, we could experience the first DANA (Isolated Upper Level Depression) of the season.

As for the forecast for next weekend, it is still prudent to be cautious. The information available this Monday suggests an unusual situation in approximately six days. On Saturday, September 2, a mass of cold air from northern Europe could reach us, crossing the western part of the Peninsula. This event would affect almost the entire peninsula and the Balearic Islands with widespread and in some cases intense rains.

And the “DANA for this weekend” is now just a possibility,

that could be confirmed or ruled out in the forecasts of the next few days.

FOR THE MOMENT: Calm but attentive. We will continue to report

Also, we could experience another drop in temperatures similar to what we have had recently, especially on Sunday. However, these forecasts could change. As the week progresses, it will be crucial to confirm the presence or otherwise of the DANA and, if confirmed, to determine the areas that could be most affected and how, since not all DANAs are the same or have the same impact.

At the moment, it seems that something is changing right at the beginning of September. It’s not discarded a cooler and rainier weekend, but it remains to be seen if it will be torrential rains or more moderate. We will be closely watching the evolution of this possible DANA, which could usher in the climatic autumn.
