Prince Union van Dwèrsklippelgat (Nuenen) has his sting back. Some young people jerked the stitch from the head of highness on Saturday and ran away. He arrived too late for Sunday afternoon’s parade, but thanks to a ‘very sweet lady’ the prince can put on the head cover again the rest of carnival.
“Four boys pulled the prince’s head when he was on his way to their hotel,” a prince spokesperson said earlier. The prince and his result were desperate and praised a reward of 222 euros for those who would bring back.
First Narregat (Gerwen) came to the rescue. One of the former princes there turned out to have a stab in the same color scheme and lent it out. Prince Union ran the parade on Sunday afternoon with that borrowed stitch.
Reward not necessary
And in the meantime the multi -colored stitch is safely at home again. On Sunday afternoon a woman reported to him in the outskirts. “A very sweet lady from Son and Breugel called us, she was walking and suddenly saw a hat,” said the spokesperson.
The woman then drove to Dwèrsklippelgat to bring the stitch back. And the 222 euro reward? That was not necessary: ”She didn’t want the reward, she was so sorry for us,” says the prince’s envoy.
He felt wetness
Why the stab was stolen and then thrown away remains unclear. “The truth, we probably never find out. I think the thieves felt wetness because of all the media attention and wanted to get rid of it quickly.”
