On closer inspection, the verbal altercation between Catherine Keyl and Harry Mens turns out not to be a riot. At least, that’s what she says now. According to her, the media has made a big deal out of it. “What nonsense!”
It was Catherine Keyl herself who announced her appearance on Business Class as her ‘most bizarre interview ever’. The media picked it up, the talk show circuits worked overtime and Harry Mens’ misogynistic statements were reason for her to publicly doubt her periodic appearances in the program.
‘No arguing!’
Now that the dust has settled, it appears that nothing was wrong at all, according to Catherine. They just didn’t agree with each other. And the press? He made a huge argument about it. Not herself, no. The press.
The senior presenter op NPO Radio 1: “We didn’t have an argument at all, but the press makes a huge argument out of it. We just didn’t agree with each other, but that should be possible, right?
Nothing to worry about
RTL Boulevard presenter Morad El Ouakili is surprised by this. “Oh, now suddenly nothing is going on anymore, Rob?” he says in the show section.
TV critic Rob Goossens then: “Yes, wait a minute! She herself said that she never wanted his program again and then acts as if we have made something great out of it!”
Inflated
Catherine blew it up herself, Rob thinks. “While when I heard that she never wanted to go there again, I thought: well, something spectacular must have happened. When I looked back, I saw a senile old man and someone who is already at a certain age just kissing a bit. It wasn’t that exciting!”
But entertaining, he continues. “I occasionally watch Business Class. Unfortunately it only has an average of 16,000 viewers, but it is undeservedly unwatched, because it is the hidden gem of Dutch television.”
Catherine welcome
If it were up to Harry, Catherine would be back in the new season of Business Class. “She is far too busy with all the talk shows and to tell me that she may be considering not coming back to me.”
“Then I said to her: ‘I’m considering that too’, so as far as I’m concerned she can come back, so just tell her that when you speak to them.”
