Among the Miss Finland semi-finalists is a relative of the Finnish Lions. Working as a close nurse Iida Puljujärvi26, says he is related to a hockey player Jesse to Puljujärvi28.
– All of us Puljujärvi are related to each other, because there are so few of us. I have heard that he is my little cousin, Iida tells Iltalehte.
A famous relative does not put pressure on Iida to succeed. Iida does not think that he will send a message to his little cousin despite his semi-finalist place and the Lions’ World Championship gold.
– We don’t really know each other, and we have never met.

Like Jesse Puljujärvi, Iida’s family roots are from the north, but today he lives in Turku. Iida, who has a background in cheerleading, will soon graduate as a nurse. Iida’s special skills include language skills.
– I know Mandarin, Persian, Spanish, Swedish and of course English and Finnish. Is there anything left unsaid? I always try to study a little bit of words in different languages.
One of the worst turns in Iida’s life was when his mind collapsed in his early twenties.
– I believe that the collapse was caused by the fact that my whole life went by in a terrible hurry. I’ve always been very into it, I studied in high school and vocational school at the same time, and on top of that I was in coaching. And I hadn’t necessarily dealt with any issues. Then burnout hit me and everything came crashing down.
– I had to put myself together from little pieces. At the same time, it was a really important and significant moment in terms of my growth, but also the hardest experience that I could never have imagined that could happen to a person’s mental health.

After her ordeal, Iida feels that she is more authentic and happier than ever. Does Iida have luck in love as well?
– At the moment, that love is specifically for myself. I have really built a life for myself where I love the things I do. I love myself and the people around me. It’s really the basis of everything so that you can love someone else.
Iida’s charity project in the competition is to promote the mental health and well-being of young people. Promoting the mental health of children and young people is one of Iida’s reasons for participating in the Miss Finland competition.
– I want to stand as an example that everything really works out.
