Riots on the field before and after loaded derby between Quick Boys and Katwijk | Dutch football

Images from Omroep West show that a few dozen supporters stand on the side of the field an hour before the game and start a confrontation with each other. Firecrackers were also thrown at each other. In the end, the riot police had to enter the field of Sportpark Nieuw Zuid about forty minutes before the game to create order. They came running from the dunes to separate the supporter groups.

Quick Boys and Katwijk did not report anything about the riots on their social media channels. The match did start at 7 p.m. The game was fierce inside and outside the lines, but there were no major problems during the game. Nick Runderkamp thought he would become the hero of Quick Boys in the 79th minute with a nice swipe that made it 2-1, but Katwijk captain Robbert Susan equalized three minutes later on behalf of the visitors.

Even after the game, groups of ‘supporters’ came onto the field with fireworks, looking for problems.

It was the first time in two years that Katwijk and Quick Boys played against each other. Katwijk proudly leads the Jack’s League with 44 points, twelve points above pursuers AFC from Amsterdam and Koninklijke HFC from Haarlem. Quick Boys now occupies eighth position at the highest amateur level in the Netherlands with 24 points.
