Riots again in Paris at protests against pension reform | Abroad

According to the French television channel BFMTV, the police have arrested 61 people. Broadcaster Franceinfo reported that five officers were injured. About 4,000 people are believed to have taken part in the protest. There were also protests in other cities such as Bordeaux, Lyon and Strasbourg.

The spontaneous demonstration in Paris took place on Place de la Concorde, not far from the parliament building. Riots had also broken out there the day before after the French government decided to push through the pension reform without a vote in parliament, for fear that not enough members would agree. The reform allows for an increase in the retirement age from 62 to 64.
