From neighbors to a couple. The operator of Keski’s rinkel factory, titled as the Prince of rinkels Sami Haara49, and a beauty entrepreneur Charlotte Fellman37, were initially neighbors and long-time friends who occasionally went for coffee.
The friendship began to spark when one day Sami asked Charlotte on a date.
– Then they pressed me over for coffee. As far as I remember, it was an epiphany, Sami tells Iltalehte.

The couple continued to date, including skiing, even though Charlotte couldn’t ski. At that time, Charlotte was already pregnant.
– The child already came on the first date, Charlotte laughs.
Charlotte remembers experiencing feelings of joy from her second pregnancy. Charlotte has a 10-year-old son from a previous relationship, and Sam has an 18-year-old son.
– I was under a bit of pressure that I would want another child one day and I was already that old. I didn’t want to try for another child after forty, Charlotte says.
– It was clear as day that this is the way to go. It happened in the beginning. The pregnancy did come at the right time, she adds.
Nine months later, their child together Prince born in. Two years later, Charlotte proposed to Sam in Stockholm.
– We went to a jewelry store, where I asked if we should wear rings like this, Charlotte recalls.

Now Prince is three years old, and Sami and Charlotte still don’t live under the same roof. They live almost as neighbors in Helsinki. The living arrangement suits the couple very well.
– It has its own kind of freedom. You don’t have to constantly worry about which way to put the toilet paper roll. It’s kind of easy. I may also be at work quite a lot, and I’m not at home much, neither is Charlotte, Sami says.
– Sami has never lived together with a woman, so he has already developed his own habits in his fifties. Sami is really pedantic – he even has his shirts cut to his liking, and I don’t know how to cut them. I can’t even touch anything in his home. I, on the other hand, am more ambitious, which means we have toys on the floor, which Sami can’t stand, Charlotte continues.

The couple plans to get married within 3-5 years, but they have no plans to move in together, at least for now.
– Yes, we can probably move in together when we retire, Sami reveals.
– Let’s look at it then. Now is such a period, Charlotte responds to the suggestion.
In addition to the apartments, Sam and Charlotte have their own money. Both of them take turns paying for things in everyday life, but they are not precise about it.
– It’s important to me that I don’t live on my husband’s money. I want to start my own business and earn my own money and decide what I do with it, Charlotte says.
Parenthood
The couple has clear divisions in parenting: Prince is at Sam’s on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on weekends the family spends time together. Charlotte describes that combining entrepreneurship, parenthood and a relationship requires a lot of planning from both.
– We live according to the calendar, summarizes Charlotte.
– After all, it is sometimes a bit of a challenge. I wouldn’t have to be so tied to work if I were a little bigger entrepreneur. If I were working for someone else, all I would have to do was come and go, but as an entrepreneur you have to think about all the things. No one will think about them for you, Sami adds.

Sami and Charlotte discuss their views on raising children. Sami describes himself as a strict educator who draws boundaries for his child.
– When Prince is at his mother’s house, there can be a pretty tough mood there. When he comes to dad, he’s automatically in good shape and doesn’t even try to pace himself. My mother has to scream sometimes, but I don’t have to, Sami opens.
– Sam has an unspoken authority towards the child. He just looks at Prince and he does what daddy says. For me, Prince dares to say no. Of course, he has the age of defiance, when it becomes easier for his mother to show emotions and will, Charlotte reflects.
Charlotte admits that it is sometimes frustrating that a child responds more to his mother than to his father.
– It could be that both of them would have a child just fine. But that’s how life is, these are these periods, he states.
– Then you yourself learn to see that now you have to set more limits for the child. Raising work is indeed hard and important work, he continues.

Moving abroad?
The couple has an age difference of 12 years, but according to them, it doesn’t show in their everyday life.
– Maybe I’m a bit of an old soul, and Sami is more youthful, Charlotte laughs.
– I’m so childish that no one can imagine that I’m turning 50, Sami says with a twinkle in his eye.
The family plans to celebrate Sam’s 50th birthday in Florida, USA. Before that, the couple is excited to see how the Finns will accept what’s next in their lives Ring Princeseries.
During the coming year, Charlotte also plans to travel more often to Spain, where Prince’s godmother lives, the 1986 Miss Finland’s first hereditary princess Maarit Salomäki.
Charlotte says that she even considered moving to Spain. He realizes that Sami, who once lived in Spain, does not dream of the same.
– According to him, he does not agree to that idea. But I was thinking of buying flights to the south coast myself. When we are independent individuals, we can just take and go and don’t have to ask the man, Charlotte says with a little laugh.
Sami believes that their living arrangements will remain good if Charlotte decides to move to Spain one day.
– I could come and visit there. He probably isn’t going there yet, but in practice it would probably work, says Sami.
