Rico Verhoeven’s career in a nutshell
– Verhoeven started practicing martial arts at the age of 5 (!) and started with Kyokushin
– At the age of sixteen he already had to compete against adults, due to his large size.
– He trained his entire professional career in Zevenbergen at the Superpro Sportcenter gym under Dennis Krauweel. Until he was 24, his father also played a major role in training and guiding him to the top.
– In 2013, Verhoeven made his debut at Glory
– Verhoeven has been working with manager Karim Erja since 2014
– On October 12, 2013, he became world heavyweight champion at Glory. That day he defeated Daniel Ghita in Glory’s old world title system within a Grand Prix tournament.
