Every traveler needs a suitcase that also knows designer Rick Owens, who presented a collaboration with Rimowa during his FW25 collection in Paris.
The German suitcase manufacturer and the designer created the ‘Original Cabin Bronze’ case together, Rimowa said on Friday. Limited to 500 numbered copies, the suitcase combines the dark, elegant aesthetics of Rick Owens with the faithful aesthetics with the technical expertise from Rimowa.
However, the technology was developed especially for this reinterpretation of the classic Rimowa case. The exterior of the case was designed with a patinated aluminum surface, which is achieved by a manual pigment order. This procedure creates an aged effect that develops over time because the patina gains depth.
In addition, the suitcase has another novelty for Rimowa, the first fully made of leather inner life. The material used for the interior comes directly from Rick Owens’ production and underlines the symbiosis of the craft of both brands. A luggage trailer made of real cowhide is also included. This was developed and manufactured in Italy by Rick Owens and consists of cowhide with natural, gross hair structure, which gives the design a haptic component.
“Rick Owens gives everything he touches an uncompromising sharpness,” says Rimowa-Coo Hugues Bonnet-Masimbert. “His fearless approach inspired us to collaboration that questions conventions in every respect. We have redefined the limits of our production to create a piece that celebrates creativity and craftsmanship at the highest level. “
