Richard van Heulen will be trainer of Telstar Under 21 next season

Richard van Heulen will return next season as trainer of Telstar Under 21. As a player, he played no fewer than 294 matches for the club from Velsen-Zuid. With the appointment, the IJmonders want to give more substance to the involvement of former players at Telstar.

Van Heulen played nine seasons for Telstar. He then played for Almere City FC and FC Lisse.

The 42-year-old has been active as an (assistant) trainer of various teams at FC Lisse in recent years. “After wandering through Almere City and FC Lisse, I am happy to be back at the ‘old nest’. I look forward to helping players make the final step to the first team and thus contribute to the development of both the individual and Telstar,” said Van Heulen.

“We are happy that with former FC Lisse coach Richard van Heulen we have not only been able to attract an experienced trainer for Telstar Under 21, but also someone who knows the club extremely well. Richard himself comes from Telstar’s youth academy, played nine seasons for Telstar 1 and wore the captain’s armband. As a result, he knows better than anyone what is required of talented players to reach the first team,” says head of training Rory Roubos.
