A house in the middle of vineyards in southern Italy is probably not what inclined listener: inside with the Icelandic band Múm. At this place, however, the majority of the new songs were created on History of Silence. For band founders and multi -instrumentalists örvar Þóreyjarson smárason, the music is strongly connected to the impressions on site, he also calls these songs of silence his evening music.

Recommendations of the editorial team

The first record of the collective since Smilewound (2013) also made a long route after the first recordings, it was swung back and forth for more than two years until the musicians were satisfied with their electro-acoustic room exploration. On the eight new tracks, what they can do particularly well, they drift from one idea to the next, seem to fray themselves and in the end sometimes arrive at a correct pop song, a melancholic heart warmer like “Miss You Dance” or an etude such as “Avignon” (with piano and strings).

Feedback is then also used in “Our Love Is Disting”, mind you in homeopathic doses. Múm manage to find a balance between contemplation, well -sounded and digital distortion via the complete History of Silence.
