PussyTalk with a degree: Hyperpop hiphop that dances on the clubbing volcano.
Yes, okay, I’m kind of cool. Perhaps it is a mistake to want to approach Ikkimel’s work (with a bourgeois name Melina Gaby Strauß) on the pure meta level. Sure: what she does is the reversal of what misogyne, tail-controlled rapper has been doing for decades, mostly without humor, see Bushido and such: pure pussy talk on Juicy Tussen-Art. But is it really the means of choice, if it actually has to be about finally getting rid of the whole text waste of the types? I have to say: no idea. But what Ikkimel does is just as interesting and fun as Eurodance in the early 90s. And then I was secretly there when the sweater types on St. Pauli annoyed me with a scratch.
Ikkimel’s hyperpop hiphop is childish, but only to fool, because of course there is a little more behind it. On the one hand, self-confident sexuality (“nobody is licked here apart from my ass”), on the other hand, a playful counter-draft to too academic approaches in current gender discussions.
Because: everything is clear anyway. It is torn, koked, stove, fced and sweated, as if there was no tomorrow. “Baby, have a bachelor and he was even bad / I didn’t even find it difficult, now I dance naked in videos”: This line from “Baddie” (together with Money Boy) gets to the point. Of course, Ikkimel always gets her degree when she gets a little more wool sweater from the turtleneck sisters. And there is a lot of pose when she wraps the club as an orgian location. But also a lot of liberating. In the last track “Heart Back” it even gets gentle and serious. The party is over and the real sun opens.
