Björk’s “Cornucopia” tour ran from 2019 to the end of 2023 – a crazy undertaking that wanted to be a concert, opera, installation and science fiction operetta all at the same time. The instrumentation was correspondingly opulent: a large choir, flutes and all sorts of percussion provided the right sound, as did self-made instruments.

Now the whole thing is available as a live document: the Icelandic artist marches through her catalog for 23 pieces. Even though the focus may be on newer material, she travels a long way back, for example to “Hidden Place” (2001) or “Isobel” (1995), a song that also features strings and brass in its original version.
At the same time, the new arrangement allows itself more symphonic and more breaks, which is perhaps the general principle of this album: an early avant-garde beautiful sound collides with beats that come from the engine room, but suddenly sound like real wood; This voice towers over it all, allowing itself a little more expressionism than it already does in such an environment
