Return: Andy Carroll re-signs for Reading FC

Andy Carroll (33) is returning to Reading after his contract with West Bromwich Albion expired in July. As the English second division club announced on Thursday, the striker signed a contract until mid-January. At his first station with the “Royals” last November, he received a working paper for two months. He only made eight games for the club, in which he contributed two goals and one assist.

“I’m really happy to have Andy with us. Of course, a striker of his caliber gives us strength and a fighting presence, and I’m sure goals will reflect that. But with Andy we also have another strong voice in the dressing room,” coach Paul Ince is quoted as saying in a club statement. Carroll is a leader both on and off the field, the coach said. In addition to the new signing, Ince also have Lucas João (29), Shane Long (35) and talented Jahmari Clarke (18) available for the center of attack.
