The trade association Germany (HDE) expects a well -filled Easter basket.
The corresponding sales in local retail are expected to be 2.3 billion euros, the association said on Wednesday. In the previous year comparison, this corresponds to an increase of 3.8 percent. The industry organization referred to the results of a current survey of among 500 people.
“After Christmas, Easter is the second largest holiday-related consumer event,” said HDE general manager Stefan Genth. “Many dealers therefore hope that this year’s Easter business can boost the consumption mood that has been caught for many months.”
This hope could come true, because according to the HDE, almost 41 percent of the population plan to spend money around Easter. Expenditures of 40 euros are expected per capita. However, this budget will benefit business with occasional goods, in particular food, flower, decorative articles and toy shops that are particularly in demand during Easter.
