The 9th week excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup European Qualifiers was completed with 10 matches played in groups B, C, E, H and J.

National Football Team beat Bulgaria 2-0 in the fifth match of Group E of the 2026 FIFA World Cup European Qualifications. With this result, Türkiye achieved its 4th victory in its 5th match in the group and ranked second. Bulgaria, with no points, remained in last place. Spain, which beat Georgia 4-0 in the other match of the group, continued its leadership with 15 points.

The national team will play its last match in the group against Spain in Seville on November 18. If the national team wins the last match, points will be equal and the overall average will be taken into consideration. While Spain has an average of +19, the national team’s average is +5.

In Group B, Switzerland had a great chance to qualify for the World Cup by beating its host Sweden 4-1. Kosovo, on the other hand, secured its place in the top 2 by beating Slovenia 2-0 away.

In Group C, Denmark drew 2-2 with its host Belarus, while Greece beat its host Scotland 3-2. Following these results, it became clear that Denmark and Scotland would be in the top 2 places.

In Group H, Austria beat Greek Cyprus 2-0 away. Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Romania 3-1 and guaranteed to be in the top 2 places along with Austria.

In Group J, Belgium drew 1-1 away with Kazakhstan, while Wales beat Liechtenstein 1-0 away. With this result, group leader Belgium will have to wait for the last week’s matches for their World Cup ticket.

The 12 teams that top their groups in the European qualifiers will directly qualify for the World Cup. A total of 16 teams will compete for the last 4 tickets, with the participation of 12 group runners-up and 4 teams from the UEFA Nations League. Play-off matches will be played in March 2026. The play-off draw will be held at the UEFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, on Thursday, November 20.
