Cwith a starry dinner or a margherita pizza. There are many ways, within the reach of all budgets, to participate in “Restaurants Against Hunger”, the initiative that for eleven years has allowed do charity while enjoying the pleasure of a dinner out.

The project enjoys the support of a series of ambassadors of the highest level: great chefs who have supported it with passion over the years. Among the historical names Enrico Crippa, Antonio Guida, Elio Sironi, Tommaso Arrigoni, Claudio Sadler, Cristina Bowerman, Mario Dalena and Vincenzo Florioto which they were added Norbert Niederkofler, Filippo La Mantia and Roberto Valbuzzi. In 2025 he joins Anna Zhang, winner of Masterchef Italy 14who enthusiastically accepted to become the new Ambassador of the initiative.

Restaurants against hunger are underway: solidarity is a dish on the menu (even starred ones)

The 2025 solidarity campaign starts today, 16 October, on the occasion of World Food Day and will continue until December 31st. Throughout the period, it will be possible to choose in the restaurants and chains participating in the initiative a solidarity dish or menu: this will support the projects – in 56 countries around the world – of the international humanitarian organization Action Against Hunger.

Participating venues include restaurant chains such as Pokéria by NIMA, MACHA CAFÉ, Wiener Haus and Pizzium. And it counts on various partners, such as Ferrari Trento (which donated 2,000 bottles of Maximum Blanc de Blancs) and Surgiva water. It has the support of FIPE – Italian Federation of Public Businesses and TheFork, which will create a dedicated section with the tag #ristoranticontrolafame within the platform.

The calendar of Super Solidarity Dinners and Sunday lunch in Milan (from November)

They are also part of the initiative Super Solidarity Dinners (below those of October). From that, Saturday evening, at Il Fagiano of the Grand Hotel Fasano in Gardone Riviera (Brescia), 1 MICHELIN Star 2025, with the chef Maurizio Bufi. At the special 12-handed “Blind Taste” lunch on 25 October at Il Sereno al Lago di Torno (Como), 1 MICHELIN Star 2025, led by chef Raffaele Lenzi.

Among the novelties this year is also the launch of a new format which will kick off in Milan in November. The objective is to involve citizens in an informal and accessible Sunday solidarity lunch at the canteen of the Catholic University of Milan. The initiative will see the participation of one or more chefs supporting “Restaurants Against Hunger” and the entire proceeds will be donated to Action Against Hunger projects.

Where do the funds raised by Action Against Hunger go?

In ten years, the initiative raised almost 1 million eurosreaching further 500 people between Milan and Naples. They were also funded international projects in various countries: from the Sahel, with interventions to combat the effects of climate change, to Lebanon, with social cohesion, nutrition and health programmes, up to the Central African Republic, to prevent malnutrition of mothers and children under five years of age.

In 2025, the commitment continues with targeted interventions in areas most affected by hunger: Myanmar, the Middle East, India (in the slums of Mumbai), Italy (with the extension of the project to Bari), Kenya and Nepal, to build a future free from hunger together.
