Gerard Joling thinks it is a great pity that Peter van der Vorst did not do his best to get Only Joling among the three nominees for the Golden Televizier Ring. “Not one commercial!”
The tension is palpable between RTL 4 boss Peter van der Vorst and one of its biggest stars Gerard Joling. The singer believes he deserved a nomination for the Televizier-Ring, but is not among the final three with his soap Only Joling. According to him, it did not help that RTL took such a passive position and did not campaign.
Geer isn’t going
Gerard is not even going to the Golden Televizier-Ring Gala tonight, despite the fact that he still has a chance to win a Televizier prize for his YouTube vlogs. “I record in Aalsmeer with The Masked Singer, so I’m just working in the studio there and that lasts until about eleven o’clock,” he says in RTL Boulevard.
Who will then receive the possible prize? “I haven’t thought about that, because I assume I won’t win it and otherwise we’ll pick it up somewhere or something. I have no idea! I haven’t thought about it at all.”
Great prize
According to Boulevard host Luuk Ikink, it is obvious that Gerard is not going because he thinks the price is too low. “I don’t think he is there because he thinks this prize is a bit less important than the big prize he actually won for Only Joling, namely the Ring.”
He continues: “He would have liked to have been there and he has already indicated that he thinks it is silly that RTL has paid so little attention to it and he is still a bit angry.”
Small stitch
That’s right. We hear Gerard say: “Well, I think RTL made a small mistake there, because they said to me: ‘We are going to bet entirely on you and not on B&B Vol Liefde, because you scored so high’, but I have never seen anything like a commercial or ‘vote for Geer’ or anything.”
Luuk: “He finds that annoying, doesn’t he?”
Show expert Aran Bade: “Yes, I understand it, but on the other hand I think: that program just has to get those votes itself. Then you can want to recruit votes via RTL, but that has simply not been enough.”
