Residents of Moerdijk will challenge the 100 percent compensation for homeowners and want 350 percent compensation if their village has to disappear. EenVandaag reports this. The village is in danger of disappearing due to the arrival of more industry. The residents have hired a lawyer to obtain higher compensation.

“You have nature nearby, a harbor, the small scale of the village. It gives children a feeling of security, they grow up in safety,” says Marianne Quik, chairman of the Moerdijk Residents’ Collective.

She is full of praise for the pleasant living environment in her village of Moerdijk. “And of course: you live next to an industrial estate, but as a resident I don’t notice that.” The plan is that the 1,100 villagers can continue to live in the village for the coming years. Construction of new energy stations in the area will begin in 2028, which should be completed in 2033.
