Resident arrested after kitchen fire in Huizen

On the Plaveenseweg in Huizen, a fire started in the kitchen of a house at around 3:15 a.m. last night. One of the residents was aggressive towards the police and was arrested for disturbing public order.

Two adults and three children were in the home at the time of the fire. A spokesman for the fire service says that they, together with the dog and the cat, were outside in time. After 45 minutes of extinguishing the fire, the fire was under control. Surrounding homes did not need to be evacuated.

“It is suspected that the fire started on the stove,” says a spokesperson for the fire service. “At the moment that is still a suspicion. Today the fire brigade and police are investigating the cause.” On a picture of the fire department you can see that there is a lot of damage in the kitchen. Especially the hood is burned.

The police say that the resident has been released and has been fined.
