REPORTING. In Flanders no expensive words like at the Climate Summit, but action: 297 cities and municipalities are fully softening and one Grote Markt is even becoming an ‘urban forest’ | Inland

While world leaders give impassioned speeches and make expensive promises at the Climate Summit in Sharm-el-Sheikh, a lot is happening here. In 293 of the 300 Flemish cities and municipalities, car parks and wide paved roads have to make way for trees, flowers, grass, a pond, a stream or – hypermodern! – a wadi. In Genk they are even planting “an urban forest” on their Grote Markt. Or how the tree in the city becomes the new speed bump.
