Mainz 05 brought Sheraldo Becker on loan from Spanish first division club CA Osasuna on deadline day and has been playing at the level of a Europa League candidate ever since. The FSV has climbed from the relegation zone to tenth place since the beginning of February and has been in sixth place in the form table since matchday 21.
Becker was always used, collected five scorer points in twelve Bundesliga games and, according to “Kicker” information, will also play for Mainz next season. Accordingly, Becker’s loan contract was designed in such a way that there would be a fixed commitment if he stayed in the league – cost: 500,000 euros.
Osasuna brought Becker in on a free transfer in the summer of 2025 from Real Sociedad, who transferred a €3 million fee to Union Berlin for his services in January 2024. Things were anything but smooth for Becker in Spain, and his market value fell from 10 million to 1.5 million euros. In Mainz, the Suriname national player is reunited with coach Urs Fischer, under whom he made his breakthrough at Union. In the Iron Jersey, Becker increased his market value to 17 million euros in the summer of 2023. This was preceded by a strong season with twelve goals, ten assists and qualification for the Champions League.
In addition to Becker, Danny da Costa is also said to have received a new working paper when the 05ers were relegated. Silas, who came from VfB at the beginning of January, also decided to extend his contract beyond the summer. After his transfer, the attacker appeared eight times in the Bundesliga (one goal) before suffering a broken tibia and fibula against VfB Stuttgart on March 7th.
