Renze Klamer is mocked for his quite disappointing guest list. At the same time, the talk show host sets a new record low: he has had his least watched week so far.

He started it with a lot of bravado, but Renze Klamer’s new daily program now turns out to be the umpteenth thirteen-in-a-dozen talk show. His guest list is also exactly as we know it from all those other talk shows: hardly surprising. The talk show host received a lot of criticism last night for his feather-light line up.

Criticism of Renze

Renze did a piece of RTL promotion with some candidates from B&B Vol Liefde, chatted with OG3NE about their participation in an SBS 6 show, talked to ‘house grandpa’ Johan about his trip to Ibiza and also had that Rolling Stones Mrs. who became known for her staged interview with Shownieuws sitting at the table.

What a mess, says former NOS boss Hans Laroes. “Would Renze Klamer take himself seriously?”

And Marcel van Roosmalen sarcastically: “Do not disturb me tonight.”

‘Hugely indispensable’

The urgency is missing, says VPRO Gids journalist Alex Mazereeuw. “You can say what you want, but this is now starting to become a hugely indispensable talk show.”

Parool reporter Roelf Jan Duin: “Line-up.”

And Villamedia journalist Nick Kivits about that Rolling Stones fan at the table: “If Renze Klamer invites someone we have not already seen three hundred times in a talk show, the weather is not good.”

Record low

After eight episodes outside the top 15 ratings, Renze Klamer finally managed to conquer a place in this ratings list yesterday. With 602 thousand viewers (15 percent market share), he was the last.

Despite that boost, Renze puts down the lowest weekly average so far on RTL 4: 550 thousand viewers. Last week there were 551 thousand and in the week before, the premiere week, 612 thousand. Skinny and also in the commercial target group, according to viewing figures expert Tina Nijkamp, he does not score well.

Smartest on one

The big winner of the evening was NPO 2’s De Slimste Mens with 1.6 million viewers (34 percent). Immediately afterwards, Nieuwsuur managed to captivate 570 thousand people (13 percent).

The silver is for NPO 1: The Feeling of the Four Days Marches was a bit disappointing with 702 thousand viewers (15 percent), but immediately afterwards De Avondetappe attracted 871 thousand viewers (20 percent).

RTL 4 takes bronze thanks to B&B Vol Liefde (860 thousand and 19 percent), while its commercial competitor SBS 6 is very disappointing: I Want Your Song attracted 274 thousand viewers (6 percent) and 5 against 5 only 254 thousand viewers (6 percent).

Viewing figures

Other programs that did not make the top 15 include Sweden – Belgium women’s football (590 thousand), Hart van Nederland (492 thousand), Shownieuws (411 thousand) and Shownieuws Zomeredition (203 thousand).
