Renovation Nieuwpoortsesteenweg Koksijde starts this autumn

There has been a demand for some time to make Nieuwpoortsesteenweg safer. The cycle paths are too narrow and too close to car traffic, and the road itself is also in need of renewal.

More safety

After the renovation works, the bicycle paths will be separated from car traffic by a grass strip. Wegen en Verkeer is also tackling the bus stops: there the bicycle paths run behind the stop, which is intended to avoid collisions with commuters. And the bus also stops at the stop on the road itself, and will therefore no longer have to swerve or merge.

The works will cost more than six million euros. Four million of these are Flemish subsidies, the municipality pays the rest. The works will take two years.
