No one can ignore the fact that wine is drunk during the broadcasts of Today Inside, but is that glass of red at the table a cozy wine or is there a lot being served? And what about before and after the broadcast? René van der Gijp’s drinking is now being made quite suggestive by two media celebrities.

‘Alone at the table’

Harry Mens has hinted at excessive drinking in his program Business Class and Marcel van Roosmalen states that an editor of Today Inside has been gossiping about René. According to this editor, René may have shot out against Marcel on Friday because of his alcohol consumption: “He may have had a few white wine.”

Telegraaf reporter Jeroen Holtrop confronts René about it. The football analyst responds to camera (see below): “Where? No, not for the broadcast. At the table. I can’t sit down to the wine before the broadcast, because I’m about to put on my makeup and then I’ll sit down at the table. Then I don’t drink wine. Yes, at the table.”

Gossip editor

But what about that gossip editor and his claim about René’s wine consumption? “No Haha. That’s okay, haha. No, that’s not too bad. Yes, no, I don’t mind.”

Has René not received an angry email from the Talpa top about his quarrel with Marcel, who will make VI’s summer replacement? About him crushing that show in advance? “No, because he did that himself. I thought so. Yes, I did not see the advantage of Talpa so much, but also the advantage of our viewers in the first fifteen minutes.”

Irritated

Why did René rant so much at Marcel? “I was a bit annoyed, but it wasn’t so much about what I was talking about, it was more about the first 15 minutes of the program. He sat down and I know the revenue model and I do know him. It’s like, “I don’t feel like it.” I am fine with it.”

Is that an act? “A little bit of course. To questions like: ‘What are you going to do?’, he says: ‘I don’t know.’ “Are you doing it with an audience?” “Yes, we don’t know.” “Do you do it with guests?” “We haven’t thought about that yet.” “Have you already sat how you’re going to arrange everything?” “No, didn’t think about it.” “Do you already know where it will be recorded?” ‘No.'”

K*tprogram

It bothers Rene. “Then I thought a little bit: then you better stay away. Because I didn’t like that. There was nothing in it. (…) And then Wilfred went on with him a little too long, because he likes it to be uncomfortable. But I thought: you can’t knit this straight anymore, so it becomes a k * t program and I think that’s a shame for the audience.

René states that Marcel would have made a big point of a name joke about his colleague Gijs Groenteman. Marcel denies that, but according to René he really did. “Yeah, he didn’t like that. He didn’t find that humorous. He says, ‘I don’t like that.’”

Very strong

All in all, René is not eager for another performance by Marcel. “If the energy is out of the program at some point, try to get it back. Then you’re busy for another fifteen minutes. Shame man.”

What does Marcel think of this interview with René? He tweets: “Very strong.”

Wilfred Genee does not want to comment further at Shownieuws: “You know, everyone has their own experience. I’m okay with it. We are grown people, what are we doing?!”
