14 Bundesliga games without a win

Rocco Reitz is an identification figure, top performer and vice-captain at Borussia Mönchengladbach. A departure is out of the question for the 23-year-old midfielder, as he emphasized to “Bild” – although, according to the newspaper, he has an exit clause of 20 million euros, which is valid from summer 2026.
“Every player definitely has dreams,” Reitz is quoted as saying. “Of special clubs, of special competitions. At the moment I’m not concerned with that at all. I’ve been a Borussia player for more than 16 years. And a lot has to happen for me to even start thinking about ending the Gladbach chapter.”
In the absence of the injured Tim Kleindienst, Reitz will wear the captain’s armband. In 2009, at the age of seven, he moved to Borussia and, with the exception of two years on loan at VV St. Truiden in Belgium, has played for the Foals ever since. After Captain Kleindienst, he is the most valuable professional in the Gladbach squad with a market value of 15 million euros. His contract runs until 2028.
Reitz: Last place with Gladbach “a stamp for all of us”
After seven match days, Gladbach is in 18th place in the Bundesliga with just three points and at the weekend they will face the previously flawless FC Bayern. Across all seasons, Borussia has been waiting for a win for 14 games – the last three-pointer was against Leipzig at the end of March (in all current series of the Bundesliga clubs). “I’m firmly convinced that we have the quality and the character to get out of there. Of course we’re at the bottom right now, that’s a really shitty feeling, a stamp for all of us. The long time without a win really eats away at you,” explained Reitz.
A week ago, Gladbach’s crisis worsened with a 3-1 defeat at Union Berlin. Reitz showed understanding for the fans, who called the team to report after the final whistle. “The announcement was exactly what I think: We have to defend ourselves and march even more on the pitch. We also addressed that internally in the team this week. Basically nothing new was said, but it was good that it came directly from the fans.” If the home game against FC Bayern is lost, Gladbach will retain the Red Lantern with three points – they have never been worse after eight match days.
