Her partner plays for RB Leipzig and she will probably play too in the future. Emma Jensen is still a U20 trial player, but thanks to good training performances she was now allowed to play for the Bundesliga team for the first time.
An unusual appearance for the RB Leipzig women’s team: In the 1-1 friendly draw against second division team Turbine Potsdam on Thursday, there was a player on the pitch who officially does not yet have a contract with the club. 20-year-old Emma Jensen celebrated her debut – and immediately left a good impression.
Jensen, who has been in a relationship with Conrad Harder, who plays for the men’s team in the Bundesliga, since August 2021, has been training with the club’s U20 team since mid-September. After convincing performances in trial training, the Dane, who previously played for FC Copenhagen, will sign a contract with the regional league reserves on January 1st, according to “Bild” information.
U20 coach Benjamin Eta was enthusiastic about the left-footed player’s development and therefore recommended her for the squad of the Bundesliga team, which was only staffed to a limited extent during the international break.
Jonas Stephan, coach of the Bundesliga team, told the tabloid: “Emma has earned this with appropriate training performance.” In the game against Potsdam, Jensen started as the left central defender in the back three – and wore the same jersey number 11 as her friend Conrad Harder, who was watching on the sidelines.
The defender showed a stable defensive performance until she was substituted in the 66th minute. “Emma left a positive impression and will hopefully become a good player in the U20 from winter onwards,” said Stephan.
She was also impressive from a technical point of view: “She is a good left-footer, capable of playing and has a good diagonal passing game. We liked that. Accordingly, she is welcome to take part again at the next international break.”
