Reinier de Boer steals three points on behalf of SVBO when visiting DZOH

It was especially cold at the DZOH sports park and the sting was in the tail of the match that the Green Yellows played against neighbor SVBO tonight. The visitors were not actually involved in the second half, but were allowed to add three points thanks to Reinier de Boer: 1-2.

SVBO took the lead for a long time after a typical Dylan Wessels goal. The technically gifted playmaker of the team from Barger-Oosterveld is in the right place after six minutes, as has often been the case this season, and works in a pinpoint cross from the right.

When Bjorn Jansen does his team a disservice just after halftime by picking up a second yellow card, the home team’s undefeated status seems to go up in smoke. But even with ten men, DZOH has the best of the game during the second half.

Despite the excess, the guests dig in. With diligent workers like Stefan Kuper and Jelmer Scholtens, the ingenuity of René Wolbers in defense and the fanatically coaching ball catcher Lennon Ebeltjes, they will last a long time.

Only in the last minute of official playing time did they capitulate. A beautiful free kick from Aron Timmerman is too powerful for them all: 1-1. The ball bounces beautifully through the inside of the post. Timmerman thus seems to save the undefeated status of coach Karlo Meppelink’s team. However, almost everyone at the sports park, including DZOH chairman Ginus Gangelhof, does not count on substitute and youngster Reinier de Boer. The latter taps a cross from Twan Berends into the goal in injury time and becomes the match winner.

“I’m especially happy to be rid of that clean sheet. As a striker you just want to score and when you score such an important goal, it really couldn’t get any better,” De Boer beams afterwards. DZOH coach Meppelink has already been through a lot in his career, but tonight he says he had a very sad Saturday: “I actually can’t believe we are losing here. I am proud of the boys. If you look at how we even with one less man to impose our will, then I have every confidence in this season.”
