By withdrawing the KFC Uerdingen, the MSV Duisburg may celebrate the early promotion to the 3rd league. But there are final doubts in the curious season – which the MSV wants to clear out on the pitch.
If the MSV Duisburg The club is already as a promoted one on Friday evening (7.30 p.m.) at Borussia Mönchengladbach II. After the withdrawal of the financially strong KFC Uerdingen and the associated cancellation of all points of the KFC, the Duisburg untramples are the league champions and can already look forward to the third class.
The Uerdingers themselves had questioned the withdrawal in a statement published on their own website, insisted on a rethink of the insolvency administrator and started legal steps – and yet the West German Football Association (WDFV) confirmed on Tuesday when asked WDR that all Uerdingen parts existed, as well as the association as a relief.
Duisburg doesn’t celebrate yet
So the reason for celebrations with the Duisburgers who are allowed to raise directly again after the bitter descent in the previous year? Not really. The MSV reacted to the promotion messages with mixed feelings. “Honestly I would have liked another ascent scenario,” MSV President Christian Stiefelhagen told the WDR. “You have to wait and see how the situation is developing. I am currently reserved.”
The situation that appeals to Stiefelhagen is significantly influenced by two topics: On the one hand, there would be the situation of the KFC, which is still struggling to end the season on the pitch, even if the opportunities seem low.
And yet, should the insolvency administration around lawyer Thomas Ellrich come to a rethink – from his own pieces or through judicial intervention – according to WDFV, one would have “a new situation”. A withdrawn cancellation from the game – that would also be new territory for the WDFV and requires a new exam.
1. FC Düren: Will the season be played over?
Furthermore, the confuse situation around 1. FC Düren also plays a role. If the club, which is also difficult to finance, also withdraw its team by April 30, the table situation would be another – and again an additional point for the climb for the MSV.
The Düreners are currently playing with several unpaid professionals who have been won for the association in a casting organized via social media. All previously active players had terminated as a result of bankruptcy, with the new team there were three clear defeats. The association launched a crowdfunding campaign to finance the future.
Ascent can be born in your own strength
“This will probably appear at some point in every comedy show. I have absolutely no understanding of it,” MSV coach Dietmar Hirsch had already weathered when the Internet casting campaign became known. The chaos around Uerdingen brings another dimension to the confuse league – which the MSV is likely to leave.
It is clear that the Duisburgers can ensure the ascent on their own with a point in Mönchengladbach. The second-placed Gütersloher, who could theoretically still intervene, have not applied for a third division license. Oberhausen, as a third-placed third division license, would have no chance to get to Duisburg in any point in any point. The climb could then be cheered – without any residual doubt.
For the battered traditional club, the direct reappraisal would be a success and emotionally urgently needed success. “I don’t even know how many do I have to pull in front of my team. Everyone expected we to march through. But there was no relegation who has risen again directly,” said coach Hirsch after 3-1 against Cologne II on Easter Sunday.
