Reeperbahn Festival 2023: Highlights Music and Conferences

The Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg is celebrating its coming of age. For the 18th time, the festival, which sees itself as a mix of club and industry event and celebrates new musicians as well as discusses the future of music, invites you to listen.

The expected 50,000 visitors and around 4,000 trade visitors can look forward to around 300 concerts by around 320 acts from numerous nations. New discoveries are guaranteed! 200 program items with around 360 speakers in the conference program round off the discursive field around the musical performances.

Claudia Roth, Minister of State for Culture and Media, and Hamburg’s Mayor Peter Tschentscher are expected to speak at the opening on September 20 (Wednesday).

The highlights of the club concerts in a total of 80 locations include The Hives, Big Joanie, Altin Gün, Bipolar Feminin, Blood Red Shoes Bob Vylan and Arab Strap.

Since 2016, the “ANCHOR – Reeperbahn Festival International Music Award” has been presented to musical talent every year. This time, the top-class jury consists of songwriter, poet and director Banks (USA), producer, songwriter, singer, actress, activist and entrepreneur Tayla Parx (USA), songwriter, singer and producer Katie Melua (GBR) and producer legend Tony Visconti (USA) as Jury President.

ROLLING STONE and MUSIKEXPRESS are also represented in the conference program. One innovation is a collaboration with the digital conference re:publica. The title “Rethink Identity” is about artificial intelligence and mental health. Other panels revolve around sustainability, streaming culture and gender equality in the music industry.

More program items will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for the Reeperbahn Festival are available HERE.
