The biggest victory in the history of the Youth League. Tonight, AZ wiped Klaipeda FM off the field in Wijdewormer by double figures. After a 7-0 halftime score, the Alkmaar talents won by no less than 12-0!
Jasper Hartog scored a hat-trick, but surprisingly enough, there were no fewer than eight different goalscorers. AZ’s oldest youth team has a different coach this season, because Jan Sierksma has been moved to Jong AZ. Michael van Zijtveld succeeded him.
From the team that won the Youth League last season at the expense of Hajduk Split and recently missed out on the World Cup after penalties in Buenos Aires, five players were in the starting line-up: Enoch Mastoras, Lewis Schouten, Kees Smit, Dave Kwakman and Ro-Zangelo Daal.
The return will be in Lithuania in just over three weeks.
