RUPPICHTEROTH (dpa-AFX) – A sausage manufacturer from North Rhine-Westphalia has recalled certain onion mettwurst products that were offered at Aldi Süd in Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse and parts of North Rhine-Westphalia. Willms Fleisch GmbH from Ruppichteroth said that microbiological contamination with certain pathogens was found in them during laboratory analysis.
It is ham and onion sausage (200 grams) in the three varieties “Vespermettwurst”, “Classic” and “Paprika” with the consumption dates June 18th, June 21st, June 22nd, June 23rd. and June 24, 2026. The withdrawal from the trade has already been arranged. “We strongly advise against consuming products with the stated use-by date,” it said. Anyone who returns affected products will get their money back. Other products from Willms Fleisch or ham-onion sausage with a different use-by date are not affected by the recall and can be consumed, the company emphasized.
The bacteria found are so-called STEC/VTEC pathogens. According to the company, an illness caused by it usually manifests itself within a few days after the infection with diarrhea and abdominal pain. “The symptoms usually go away on their own after several days,” it said. People with severe or persistent symptoms should seek medical attention./tob/DP/men
