The FC Bayern announces another departure. The Danish youngster Jonathan Asp Jensen is moving permanently to Spain.

In a significant transfer move, FC Bayern Munich has confirmed the permanent departure of Jonathan Asp Jensen to Spanish La Liga newcomers Deportivo A Coruña. This announcement came late on a Monday evening, marking another chapter in the ongoing reshuffle of the club’s roster.

Previously, Serie A club Lazio Rome was considered the frontrunner for the signing of the 20-year-old Danish talent, who made his Bundesliga debut in May 2024. Reports suggest that Bayern will receive approximately six million euros as a transfer fee for Asp Jensen.

Jensen, known for his offensive midfield capabilities, joined Bayern in the summer of 2022 from FC Midtjylland for 1.2 million euros. Since then, he has progressed through every youth team at Bayern, starting from the U17 level.

Despite his promising potential, the young player appeared on the pitch for the senior team only once and spent the previous season on loan with the Grasshoppers in Zurich, where he sought to gain more playing experience.

Bayern Talent Heads to Spain: “The Well-Deserved Reward”

“Jonny is another example of how young talents at FC Bayern can consistently develop,” remarked Jochen Sauer, the club’s Director of Youth Development. He emphasized that since joining the campus, Jensen has worked diligently towards his professional football career and has shown consistent improvement in Bayern’s junior teams.

Sauer noted that this transfer to a first-division club in Spain is “the well-deserved reward” for Jensen, who now has the opportunity to prove himself at the highest level.

This summer has already seen several players leave FC Bayern, including Daniel Peretz, Alexander Nübel, and Jonah Kusi-Asare, with Noel Aseko also set to depart. These transitions indicate a potential strategic shift within the club, possibly aimed at rejuvenating the squad and integrating newer talents.
