When Real Madrid competes at FC Barcelona on Sunday, more is at stake than just three points. It’s about a lot of prestige. In addition, the 261 Clásico could bring a preliminary decision in the fight for the Spanish championship. Barça lies four points in front of the rival from the capital in front of the duel – and Real once again causes a stir with public criticism of the referee.
The focus is on referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández, who will lead the game. Real Madrid TV, the club’s own television station, published a video that accuses the referee of partisan behavior. The four and a half -minute contribution lists alleged wrong decisions that are said to have fell on the royal in the past – especially in games against Barça. Real’s balance sheet under his leadership is also emphasized and shown as evidence of an alleged disadvantage.
At the end of the clip, an interview from 1994 is shown in which the then twelve -year -old Hernández Hernández is said to have described FC Barcelona as his favorite club.
Similar criticism had already occurred before the cup final two weeks ago. At that time, Real had created a mood against referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea. The club did not implement an announced boycott – but the debate continues to smolder and causes discussions in the league.
From a sporting point of view, the starting point is clear: Real has to win to shorten the gap to Barça. Four games are still to be played. A defeat in the Olympic Stadium would practically destroy the chances of winning the title. This threatens Real’s first Titellose season in five years.
