According to a media report, the farewell of the Italian from Madrid could be announced after the Clasico on Sunday.

The farewell to Carlo Ancelotti from Real Madrid is apparently decided. According to information from the US portal “The Athletic”, the club and coach have agreed orally about the conditions of an early separation. The official confirmation could therefore take place promptly – possibly already after the Clásico against FC Barcelona this Sunday.

The game with the leaders Barça is considered possibly decisive in the title race of the Spanish league. FC Barcelona is currently leading four points ahead of Real Madrid. After the Clásico there are still three game days.

Xabi Alonso is traded as the most likely candidate for the successor. The former midfielder of Real Madrid is currently head coach at Bayer Leverkusen. His contract there runs there until summer 2026. An agreement with Alonso would be closely linked to the clarification of the financial conditions between Ancelotti and Real.

According to “The Athletic”, the main point of the ongoing talks should be a severance payment for the 65-year-old Italian. His contract in Madrid is still valid until June 2026 – just like that of Alonso in Leverkusen.

Ancelotti’s future has been speculated for weeks. The coach is said to have already agreed with the Brazilian association orally through future commitment. There he could take over the national team before the World Cup in the coming year – including the support for the upcoming qualification games in June.

In terms of sport, the current season for Real Madrid was mixed. The club was eliminated in the quarter -finals of the Champions League against Arsenal. In the national trophy and in Supercopa, FC Barcelona was defeated. This threatens the royal season without a title.

Ancelotti had recently emphasized that he would not make a decision public before May 25th – the last match day in Primera División. If there is an agreement after the Clásico, something should change.
