It seemed to be a quiet birthday for Jan Rozeboom. He turned 76 today, but because several N-roads in Drenthe would be closed by the province, he and his wife Riekje expected few visitors. “I thought: no one is coming,” Riekje responds. She surprised her husband with cake and put him in the spotlight via the social media of their berry farm. “We have quite a few followers, and I know they are just sitting there.”
However, the couple received more visitors than usual today. “The roads are quite clean at the moment. And there was some confusion about which roads would be closed,” Riekje explains. The visitor still went out to surprise her husband. “Tough guys,” said Riekje.
