RB Leipzig releases squad planner Vivell – candidate at Chelsea

“Different Opinions”

RB Leipzig has released its technical director Christopher Vivell with immediate effect, as the club announced on Friday. The decision was made on Thursday “due to different opinions”.

Update 1:00 p.m.: As transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano added in the afternoon, Vivell recently had a meeting with Chelsea FC, where he was one of several candidates for the vacant director post. The Londoners would have tried to remain silent about the candidates after the hoped-for and publicly discussed commitment from RB Salzburg’s Christoph Freund had failed.

After the departure of sports director Markus Krösche to Eintracht Frankfurt, Vivell took over the squad planning in Leipzig. The Saxons did not explain why the 35-year-old can no longer hold the post. At the end of the year, Max Eberl will start as the new managing director at RB. There will be no interim solution until then. Vivell’s area of responsibility will be handled by the previous staff until Eberl joins.

the “Picture”-Zeitung reported that a separation in the summer due to internal disagreements had been an issue for some time. However, according to the actual plan, Vivell should still train Eberl in his new position. The immediate separation is therefore a surprising step.
