RB Leipzig records important victory over defending champion Real Madrid in Champions League | Foreign football

The Germans won 3-2 at home against defending champions Real Madrid, which is already certain of a place in the eighth finals. Chelsea already secured a place in the eighth finals earlier in the evening. The Londoners, who won the tournament two seasons ago, were too strong for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria: 1-2.

For Chelsea, it was their third consecutive group stage win after two wins over AC Milan. The team of coach Graham Potter has 10 points after five matches. Salzburg, AC Milan and Dinamo Zagreb compete for the second ticket to the eighth finals from group E.

Croat Mateo Kovacic gave Chelsea the lead halfway through the first half. The midfielder shot the ball from the edge of the box with the left in the top corner. Chelsea failed to advance in the first half. Swiss keeper Philipp Köhn distinguished himself with good saves at Salzburg.

After the break, the initiative lay in the initial phase with Red Bull Salzburg, which came alongside in the 49th minute via Chukwubukike Adamu. The striker was able to score after a good cross from former Ajax player Maximilian Wöber: 1-1.

Sevilla still have a chance after victory

In group G, Sevilla has a chance of wintering. In Spain they won 3-0 against FC Copenhagen.

In the standings, Sevilla therefore approaches Borussia Dortmund by 2 points. However, the Germans will become unreachable if they do not lose to Manchester City later Tuesday (9 p.m.). The English are already certain of the next phase in the tournament.

After just over an hour, Sevilla took the lead. Youssef En-Nesyri headed the ball after a cross from Papu Gómez. The goalscorer, who had come in halfway through for former Ajax player Kasper Dolberg, had to leave the field injured moments later.
