Comparison with van Nistelrooy

Xavi Simons also moved from Paris Saint-Germain to DFB Cup winners RB Leipzig on loan in the summer because of coach Marco Rose. Before the top game in the Bundesliga on Saturday (6:30 p.m./Sky) against FC Bayern Munich, the Dutchman told the TV channel “Sky” that Rose had explained to him the project, what he planned to do with the team, and how he told him see on the field. “That gave me goosebumps. I was excited and wanted to come here and play under him. The way he wants to play football is really good for me and my development,” said the 20-year-old.

Simons compared Rose to Ruud van Nistelrooy, who helped him make his big breakthrough at PSV Eindhoven last season. Under the former world-class striker, the offensive player contributed 20 goals and twelve assists in 46 games. With seven scorers in eight games, Simons also made a huge impact at RB Leipzig.

Goals & highlights from Xavi Simons at PSV Eindhoven

“I’ve been here for three months, I’m enjoying my time and I really appreciate everything here,” said the Netherlands international. RB sports director Max Eberl recently told “Kicker” that they wanted to “try to ensure that he stays with us longer in the summer of 2024.” Simons said about his future: “I want to achieve something here and leave my mark on the club. It’s hard to predict what will happen in football. That’s why my focus is on Saturday for now.”

Simons expects an intense game against Bayern. Although RB won the Supercup in Munich in August, “but I am sure that they will come here and show us that they want to win. But I see the chance as 50/50. We play at home and have the support of the fans.”
