The coaching search at RB Leipzig has an end. The club has found a successor to Marco Rose. The new coach comes from the Bundesliga competition.
His time at Werder Bremen ended abruptly a few weeks ago. Now Ole Werner has a new job. The 37-year-old becomes the new trainer of RB Leipzig. The Saxons officially announced this on Tuesday.
Werner becomes Marco Rose’s successor. The coach, who won the DFB Cup with Leipzig in 2023, was released from his tasks last March. In the Champions League, the club had left without a chance from the group phase and also lagged behind the Bundesliga. For the rest of the season, Zsolt Lőw took over as an interim coach. The Hungarian subsequently missed international business with RB.
Werner Leipzig should lead to this in the coming season. He had established Werder Bremen again in the Bundesliga in recent years. Werner, who had previously worked for Holstein Kiel for years, had been with the northern Germans since 2021. When he took office, Werder played in the 2nd league. At the end of 2022, Werner and his team celebrated the promotion.
The Bremen chapter ended abruptly. A contract extension of his working paper dated until 2026 failed. Werner then announced his farewell to the coming summer in May. Werder immediately separated from his trainer a day later.
Because Werner was still under contract with Bremen until the end, a transfer is said to be due for him. According to “Bild”, this is 1.5 million euros. There are also bonuses -related bonuses. Werder could also collect up to 500,000 euros for Werner.
