Rasmus Seppänen life changed in a harsh way in the summer of 2023. A young Swede who was enjoying his life at a festival organized in the municipality of Båstad in Sweden was seriously injured when a large light pole fell and hit him.

Now he has almost fully recovered, but the accident left permanent marks on him. Interviewed by Expressen Seppänen says that he will seek compensation for himself through the courts.

Seppä, who suffered serious head and neck injuries in the accident, was treated for a long time in the intensive care unit. The injuries were serious, but the worst was avoided.

– It was down to the millimeter that I would have lost my ability to walk, Seppänen tells Expressen.

Seppänen recovered, but not completely back to his original condition. Ten screws had to be installed in his back. They support and protect the body that has been destroyed by a violent blow.

– The doctors wanted to perform an operation on me, as a result of which I could no longer turn my head. But it is quite important in golf, Seppänen says in the story.

Golf is not just a hobby for Seppänen, but he strives to create a professional career in the sport. The playing career continues, but certain exercises have had to be left out of the program, because Seppänen’s body is no longer capable of them.

An official investigation was launched into the accident, but it was ultimately concluded as inconclusive. Now Seppänen has sued the festival organizer.

He demands compensation for 4.4 million Swedish kronor, or about 380,000 euros. In addition to medical and attorney fees, the sum includes estimates of lost income and mental and physical pain and suffering.

– For me, the most important thing is to find out who is responsible for this accident. I don’t want anyone to have to experience the same thing as me.
