Randy Newman postpones Dutch concerts after neck surgery | show

Randy Newman has canceled his European tour. The now 78-year-old singer-songwriter recently underwent surgery for a broken neck. That is why the concerts he would give in March and April in Groningen, Eindhoven, Utrecht and Amsterdam have been postponed.

Newman announced the news on his website. In his message he referred to the song with humor short people, one of his best-known songs from the 1970s. “I noticed I was shrinking,” he writes on his site. ‘People I used to be able to look over could now look over me. Would that be the punishment because I short people have written?’ After that, the singer explains that doctors found that he had broken his neck.

He has since undergone surgery. Newman says he is looking forward to the concert series An evening with Randy Newman, but his doctors think he should take it easy for a while. “I miss the gig very much, but I look forward to playing for you again soon.”

Randy Newman was especially popular in the 70s and 80s. He scored hits with Birmingham and short people, with which he was in the Dutch charts in 1977. He also had success with Rider in the rain, a song he recorded with The Eagles. Furthermore, the singer-songwriter twice won an Oscar for best song in a film.

It is not yet known when the concerts in the Netherlands will take place.
