There is a sensational scene on the route in Spielberg – with consequences also for Formula 1.

Terrifying scenes-fortunately no bad consequences: The sprint race of Formula 2 in Austria has been overshadowed by a wild accident: Trident driver Sami Meguetounif (France) overturned with his car in a crash, in which two more cars were also involved.

The moment of terror had already occurred in the third round of the run: Meguetounif drove to the sharp curve in the brake, right next to the cars by Luke Browning (Hitech GTR) and Arvid Lindblad (Campos Racing) – and overturned. The Frenchman was able to leave his car unharmed. The sprint had to be interrupted for a long time: after a red flag, the race was only continued just over half an hour later.

The German-Danish Formula 2 driver Oliver Goethe also experienced a day to forget through a collision that is indebted itself. Goethe was in 16th place in the remaining start after the Meguetounif accident, but turned Dino Beganovic (Sweden/Hitech) short and damaged his racing car. A Safety car phase followed, the 20-year-old fell back to the last place and got a ten-second penalty. For the Red Bull Junior, it was only possible to eleven in the seventh race weekend of the season-for the sixth time he stayed pointless on Saturdays, for the fifth time in a row. As a result, the events on the routes had that Formula 1 qualifying on the same route could only start five minutes late.

The Spaniard Josep Maria Martí (Campos Racing) celebrated the victory off Joshua Dürksen (Paraguay/Aix Racing) and Roman Stanek (Czech Republic/Invicta Racing). The Irishman Alex Dunne (6th) was able to defend his championship leadership ahead of Richard Verzor (Netherlands/MP Motorsport).
