Rodrigo reveals that superfans resort to drastic measures for their shows – and she’s experienced the phenomenon firsthand.
What’s the craziest thing fans do to get close to their stars? Olivia Rodrigo has already had very intensive experiences with this.
In an interview with “Kiss FM” she describes the extreme measures some super fans resort to in order to be at the front of their concerts.
Fight for the best view
Long queues form in front of the concert halls, some even camp out overnight. As soon as the doors open, a horde of fans sprint towards the front row. The fight for the coveted places in the front area or the front row is tough, and increasingly drastic measures are being taken to win it. Because give up the sacred front row position? Unthinkable. So what do you do if the bladder squeezes?
Olivia Rodrigo says that some of her concertgoers wear diapers to the gigs in order to fulfill their own needs without having to give up their top spot. A situation that she herself experienced with her own senses: “This is an experience as a performer that I smelled.”
Diapers normal now?
Not a pleasant sensory impression for the artist. Rodrigo also cites the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop in Times Square as an example, where similar things probably happen. This strategy reportedly seems almost normal now: “Everyone wears diapers, they sit there all day. I think about it quite often.”
Full-grown fans in diapers – but they don’t seem to be uncomfortable, quite the opposite. At one of Olivia Rodrigo’s festival concerts, the “Drop Dead” star saw a person in the audience holding a sign that read, “Wear diapers for the front row.” Olivia Rodrigo then asked in disbelief if that was true. She reacted flattered to the confirmation: “Thank you for doing this, that’s crazy.”
Olivia Rodrigo live
Maybe the diaper phenomenon will now also be established in Germany: Olivia Rodrigo is coming to Munich in April 2027 with her “Unraveled Tour”. She plays on April 1st and 2nd in the Olympiahalle. However, tickets for this are already completely sold out.
